Martha Granger/TGFF Build

New Home Dedication

Habitat's newest homeowner, Martha Granger, dedicated her new home Saturday, March 27th at 4:00 pm.  Martha is a New Orleans native who lost her home during Hurricane Katrina and has since partnered with BBHH to accomplish the dream of homeownership.  All of us at BBHH congratulate Martha on her momentous achievement.

The home was a Thank God For Fridays (TGFF) Build and was sponsored by Bank of America, Blessed Sacrament Church, Capital City Bank Group Foundation, the Florida Education Association, Good Shepherd Parish, Mainline Information Systems and the Wells Fargo Foundation.  To our sponsors and volunteers we give a special thanks for putting faith into action and contributing your time, talent and energy to help build this house.

Collegiate Challenge 2010 -UAB

We were pleased to welcome The University of Alabama -Birmingham to Tallahassee last week for Collegiate Challenge.  The students arrived on Sunday and worked on the FSU/Community and Presbyterian/Methodists Builds (Daniels and Clayton Families, respectively) in the Tallahassee Highlands Neighborhood along with our staff, sponsors, volunteers and homeowners.  This was their first year working with BBHH through the Collegiate Challenge program and we look forward to their return next year.  Go Blazers!

Collegiate Challenge 2010 -Grand Valley State University

Grand Valley State University (Allendale, Michigan) joined our group of sponsors, volunteers and homeowners last week for their Spring Break and volunteered their time and energy to help build safe, decent and affordable houses for future homeowners, LaTeshee' Daniels and Ereka Clayton.  This is their fourth year volunteering with Big Bend Habitat for Humanity and we appreciate their dedication, enthusiasm and willingness to offer a hand up, not a hand out to Leon County families in need.

We thank all of the GVSU students and their sponsors for their hard work.
